How alphamesh is redefining fashion

In early 2012, proMesh GmbH – a subsidiary of Friedrich Münch GmbH + Co KG based in Mühlacker, Germany – rediscovered a familiar field of application and completely reinterpreted it for the world of fashion.

It all began with a collaboration with the internationally renowned fashion house Rabanne. The idea: to evolve the iconic metal dress, which had already caused a sensation in 1969, using a new material technology.

With alphamesh, they achieved exactly that.

This specially developed ring mesh combines two apparent opposites: the fluid properties of a fabric with the reflective, metallic surface of a technical material. The result is a material that moves like a textile while maintaining the visual power of metal.

This unique combination convinced Rabanne and laid the foundation for a successful partnership that continues to this day. Since then, alphamesh has become an integral part of the house’s collections and is regularly featured in Haute Couture.

What began as an industrial solution has evolved into a defining element of modern fashion – at the intersection of technology, design, and motion.

We’ve started rooftop work on a new adiabatic cooling system for our production halls in Mühlacker. It is just another step in our effort to make manufacturing cleaner and more energy-efficient.

The system cools air using natural evaporation – without refrigerants – and consumes significantly less energy than conventional air conditioning. It improves working conditions during hot periods and supports our long-term goal of reducing emissions.

But this is just one part of our broader sustainability approach:
– We generate solar power with a 420 kWp photovoltaic system
– We use closed-loop water systems with no process wastewater
– Heat from our ventilation systems is recovered and reused
– Lighting throughout the facility has been converted to LED
– We build energy-efficient machines in-house
– And we’ve started switching to CO₂-neutral GreenSteel in selected product lines

Sustainability isn’t a buzzword for us. It’s something we work on every year, one decision at a time.

The adiabatic cooling system is the latest visible sign of that process. More steps will follow.
