KHUN by YOO | Bangkog | Thailand alphamesh 12.0 bronze

KHUN by YOO is the name of the joint construction project between the British design and property developer YOO – co-founded by, among others, designer Philippe Starck – and the local property developer Sansiri, which was built in the trendy Thonglor district of Bangkok. With a construction project that describes itself as “outstanding different” you quickly notice that its approach is exceptional and different from others.

The 27-story condominium, designed with 148 residential units, can be allocated to the luxury sector with a purchase price of around 11,000 euros. The design and the facilities are correspondingly luxurious and comfortable.

The design concept was based on Thonlos’ industrial legacy. The soul of the building is the lower copper core that runs around the building. The walls and floors are partly made of raw concrete and the framed, floor-to-ceiling window fronts give the facade its striking, elegant and luxurious appearance. The interior is based on Philippe Starck, which means that furniture and lights in use were created by Starck.

In order to continue the industrial flair of the facade inside, seven curtains made of polished alphamesh ring mesh 12.0 made of bronze were attached to the high lobby windows of the condominium  – with a total area of 125 square meters! With the help of nylon threads inserted in the upper area of the curtains, the floor-length curtains could be draped throughout in the desired wave form.

Due to the warm, bronze sheen, they can add another chromophoric design element to the luxurious lobby and, on the other hand, also serve as privacy and sun protection from the outside.
